One unit offered through several channels
The same apartment may appear on several platforms at once. That does not create more apartments: each channel refers to the same physical capacity. When a new reservation occupies dates, the remaining distribution needs updating. The more places you maintain manually, the easier it becomes to miss a change or apply it to the wrong period.
Mapping, updates and verification
Setup begins by matching the correct units and, where required, their corresponding selling options. Next, establish which system controls rates, availability and restrictions. Check each connection separately: reservation support does not prove that messages, payments or every restriction also transfer. Reviewing errors remains part of running the distribution process, even when routine updates are automated. Also establish who checks a failed update and when.
From channels to daily operations
Example: the last available unit
One studio remains for three particular nights. A reservation arrives through one channel, so the quantity available for that period needs to decrease across the relevant connections. You may still maintain different prices on different channels. Coordinating capacity and deciding how to price each sales route are separate tasks, even when they are managed from one screen.
Synchronization does not remove every risk
A channel manager reduces repeated data entry, but it is not a promise of zero overbookings. Incorrect mapping, an unrecorded phone reservation or a connection problem can leave the wrong availability in circulation. Likewise, an iCal connection should not be treated as a full API connection carrying prices and selling rules.
